SCORE!!!!
Way to go, Glick Ormiston! You have solved the 30-day MA problem. My apologies to everyone for not finding this cleverly hidden method of setting up a 30-day MA, and hats off to Glick. Here are his instructions below. Follow them exactly and you too will have a beautiful 30 Day MA line to follow. (Wow, is that better than extrapolation!)
Now go play!
Glick's Instructions:
Hi Phil Town--
I believe folks can get an accurate 30 day moving average on MSN Money by tweeking the MA Envelope feature.
When on a chart page click on "Analysis" then "Price Indicators" then "Moving Average Envelope". [Click on picture below for a larger view. Remember, you'll probably need to use Internet Explorer to see these charts.]
Again from the "Analysis" drop down box click "Settings".
There under the "Price Indicators" drop box choose "MA Envelope". Then set "Periods" for 30 and "Width(percent)" for 0.00 then click OK.
That should do it. I've checked the accuracy by setting the periods for for 10 and also 50 and the lines created track the regular 10 and 50 day MA exactly.
Check it out, Phil, I really think it works.
Thanks again,
Glick Ormiston
